Scope:

Construction of a new wastewater pump station SP1220 including:

  • Wet Well structure (New SP1220)
  • Filling old SP1210 Wet Well
  • Emergency Storage Tank
  • Inlet chamber
  • Construction & installing
  • Precast roof slabs
  • Inlet maintenance hole(IMH)
  • Connection of sewer services
  • HDPE Liner (supply, install, weld and test)
  • Demolition of piles and pile
  • Capping beam
  • Valve chamber
  • Bypass bund
  • Testing

Challenges:

  • A very complex concrete structure.
  • Construction works 16m below ground level.
  • Access to multiple tanks up to 16m deep.
  • Managing high risk activities inside a small work front including cranage, work at heights, plant operation, confined space and limited access areas.
  • Construction of 60 pre-cast concrete elements up to 20T, delivery to site and installation utilizing 400T crane.
  • Working with community housed immediately adjacent to construction site.
  • Underground water management.
  • Inclement weather, including two major flooding events.

Accomplishments:

  • Completion of the project on time with high quality standards.
  • Completion of 10cm circular wet well at 16m height and 22m circumference, and emergency storage tank at 8m height.

Status:

300T of Reinforcement, 1500m3 of waterproof concrete.
